Patrick Lacey, a former Flint Town United midfielder, has been acquitted of all charges connected to a shooting that occurred in Huyton last November. Prosecutors presented no evidence against him, resulting in not guilty verdicts being recorded on his behalf in late September.
Lacey, who is 33 and from Crosby, had been accused of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent, attempted murder, conspiracy to murder, and firearm offences. The charges followed a shooting on Radway Road in Huyton one evening in late November. Authorities had alleged a man in his twenties was shot and critically injured by two individuals on an electric bike.
Court Proceedings
Lacey appeared at Liverpool Crown Court with Bernard Flynn, who was also acquitted of the same charges. Two other men, John Jones and John Hughes, were charged in the same case and face upcoming court dates. A hearing to review a potential amendment to the indictment is scheduled for early October, prior to a trial set for later that month.
Lacey's Career
The former footballer started his career with Tranmere Rovers and spent time in youth systems at other prominent clubs. He played for a number of teams before joining Flint Town United. In recent years, Lacey has also competed as a professional boxer.

As Lacey's legal matters conclude, Flint Town United continues its season. The team is in the lower half of the Cymru Premier table.
