Flint Town United were held to a 1-1 draw by Cardiff Met in a Cymru Premier match that turned on a second-half red card. The Silkmen took an early lead but finished with ten men and a single point.
Isaac Modi scored his first goal for the club after just five minutes, giving the visitors a perfect start. The advantage held until the 58th minute when defender Ben Woollam was shown a straight red card for a foul on Fumpa Mwandwe. From the resulting penalty, Cardiff Met's Jack Veale converted to level the score.
Cardiff Met captain CJ Craven was also sent off late in the game, meaning both sides finished with ten players. The draw extends Flint Town United's winless run in the league to eight matches this season.
Manager Lee Fowler said his team "were searching for their first Cymru Premier win of the campaign". The point leaves his side 13th in the table with two points from those eight games, having scored seven goals and conceded 15.
Their recent form reads DLLDL, with the last five results yielding two draws and three defeats. The next opportunity for a victory comes at home against Holywell on 30 October.
In a separate match involving local rivals Holywell Town, they suffered a narrow 2-1 home defeat to Cambrian United. Liam Eason scored twice for Holywell, but Florian Yonsian's 83rd-minute winner secured the points for the visitors. Holywell goalkeeper Alex Swindell made several key saves, including one in the first minute and another from a late free-kick.
Flint Town United will now prepare for their next league assignment, looking to convert a positive start into a full result. The squad's current standings and statistics are available on our standings and stats pages.
