Lee Fowler has left his position as Flint Town United first team manager by mutual agreement. The decision was confirmed by the club's board following a meeting on Monday morning.

The club said in a statement that the team's results and performances over the opening ten games had "fallen far short of expectations." Flint Town United currently sit 15th in the Cymru Premier, having taken just two points from a possible thirty. Their record shows no wins, two draws and eight defeats, with a goal difference of minus sixteen. The team has scored only 7 goals in those 10 matches while conceding 23, meaning they have averaged just 0.7 goals per game and conceded 2.3 per game.

"It is with regret that we announce Lee Fowler has left the post of Flint Town United first team manager today," the club's statement read. "We wish Lee every success in the future and thank him for his tremendous contribution to the club, both on and off the pitch over the last four years, especially in masterminding our run to the Welsh Cup final last season."

Chairman Darryl Williams described the day as a sad one for the club. "The decision to change manager was made all the more difficult by the fact that Lee is such a lovely human being," Williams said. "His ability to get to know everyone at the club was exceptional, and he engenders a great deal of warmth and respect."

Fowler, a Cardiff-born former Wales Under-21 international midfielder, took charge at Flint in June 2022. He led the club to promotion back to the top flight as Cymru North runners-up in 2024 and secured a historic Welsh Cup final appearance last season. However, the current campaign has seen a drastic downturn, with the team losing their last two matches 4-1 to Airbus UK and 5-0 to The New Saints. The club's statement also noted that the team has failed to keep a clean sheet in any of its ten league games this season.

The club stated it will now work to appoint a successor as quickly as possible. The immediate focus turns to the next fixture, a home match against 16th-placed Holywell on 30 October. The full squad available for that game is listed on our squad page. The club's board will meet later this week to begin the formal process of identifying and interviewing candidates for the managerial vacancy.
