Holywell Town have appointed Sean Eardley as their first team coach, strengthening their backroom team ahead of their upcoming Cymru Premier fixture against Flint Town United. The move follows Eardley's recent departure from Bangor City 1876, where he served as interim boss.

Johnny Haseldin, the Holywell manager, said the new arrival would provide a significant boost. "He’s a good character and he will give everybody a good lift," said Haseldin. "He is similar to me in how he gets the best out of players."

Eardley's coaching background

Eardley brings a wealth of experience from across the Welsh pyramid. He previously managed Caernarfon Town, guiding them back to the Cymru Premier and securing two top-six finishes. His coaching career also includes a successful spell as assistant to Alan Morgan at Llandudno, where they won the Huws Gray Alliance title and achieved historic promotion to the top flight. More recently, he was part of the management team that led Bangor City 1876 to a treble-winning season and promotion to the Cymru North.

Holywell's current situation

The appointment comes with Holywell, a Flintshire-based club, still searching for their first league victory of the campaign. They suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at Ammanford last weekend, a match where they had two goals disallowed. Florian Yonsian gave them an early lead before Ammanford fought back with goals from Jonathan Evans and Matthew Fisher.

Flint Town United, who sit 13th in the table with eight points from 12 games, will host 16th-placed Holywell on 30 October. The latest standings show a tight battle developing in the lower half of the Cymru Premier. The derby clash at the Essity Stadium will be Eardley's first in his new role with Holywell.
