Flint Town United Strengthen Squad with Experienced Defender Harrison McGahey
Flint Town United has bolstered its defensive ranks by signing former Blackpool and Sheffield United defender Harrison McGahey on a two-year contract. The 30-year-old's deal at Park Hall is set to expire in the coming weeks, after which he will join his new teammates at Flint Town United.
McGahey, who has made over 130 appearances in League One with Rochdale and Sheffield United, brings significant experience to Flint Town. He was a regular feature of The New Saints' backline, making 36 appearances across five competitions as they secured domestic success including two league titles, a League Cup, and a Welsh Cup.
Former Bala Town Pair Join Flint Town United
Alongside McGahey, Flint Town United has also signed Bala defender Harry Dean and centre-forward Joe Malkin. Dean, 20, made 29 appearances for Bala in his first taste of senior football after leaving Wrexham last summer. Meanwhile, Malkin returns to Wales after a spell with Vauxhall Motors in England, having previously played for Connah’s Quay and Bala.
Flint Town United faces increased pressure due to the expanded league and an additional relegation place. Manager Lee Fowler has been tasked with rebuilding the squad ahead of the 2026/27 Cymru Premier campaign, and these signings are part of his strategy to avoid another battle at the bottom.
